1/3rd of the Indians do not have quality home lighting – Now there is a solution

India spends some 4.7 billion U.S. dollars (24,000 Crore rupees) on kerosene subsidies every year so that people without mains electricity (nearly 122 million households) can light their homes. Kerosene lamps don’t help much in providing the light people need to work, read or feel safe. What’s more, 40% of this same kerosene is resold to adulterate diesel through the black market. The kerosene lamps are dirty and pollute the climate and affect the lungs of children. Today there is a solution to the problem through LED HOME LIGHTS. If LED HOME LIGHTS were supplied to each of the 122 million needy households we could solve the problem immediately. The cost would be about 1 billion U.S. dollars (5000 crores); a saving of almost 3.7 billion U.S. dollars per year.
